Publicize your Process

November 06, 2023

Processes are often more interesting than the outcome. If the outcome is interesting, I am curious how to get there. It's hard to copy an outcome or learn from it, if you know nothing about the process. I was always curious about the processes and when people share about their processes, how they work, when they fail or what works for them, or how often they failed to get there, this was always more interesting to me.

However, I was always very hesitant to share my own processes, as my processes are lots and lots of failures and inefficencies at times. I used to glorify efficency, not the grinding it sometimes takes to get stuff done. Or not even grinding, sometimes it's just more fun to do it some specific way, and since it is more fun, it's the route we will take even if that would mean a very different outcome, maybe not even a compromise in quality, but still a different outcome.

If there's one lesson I have learned that's transforming how I approach work, it is that I prioritise process over outcome. Do I like doing it this way? If not, why? What am I missing? If you change your process and outcome towards something that excites you your work will pull you in and you will enjoy your work.

This post here is simply the attempt to process thoughts that come to my mind in a public fashion. I don't need a perfect blog post or a writing system and all that. Posts don't need to follow a theme or appeal to an audience. I'm journaling. This is for me, in that sense that what's interesting and fascinating to me is what I want to share. And I want to share my heart, my process, the place where I am with people. I can't be with people, just where I am and in the process with all it's messiness if I believe everything I release needs to be perfect.

That's not necessary. Share your process. Let go. Enjoy the freedom of you being you where you are and accept that. You don't need to stay there, that's what the process is about.

People want to see where you are at, not where you believe that you should be.
